Zora Neale Hurston in Their Eyes Were Watching Goduses control and sexism as motifs to show the struggles that a black woman in the early 1900’s would have.
Great thought Cara! I like how you are relating your points to the time period. However, there are a couple of things I noticed that may help your thesis out. First, I would focus on one motif rather than two because it may conflict with what you are trying to prove. And second, be more specific on what struggles as black woman may have and try to relate it to this novel.

ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Tate!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea, but talk about how these motifs go about helping Hurston to express her ideas. Why are these motifs significant?
